Time trials are usually conducted on a track or a measured race course, but with the help of your Garmin device, you can now conduct these tests along your normal running routes. Since a Time Trial is an all-out effort, be sure to warm up and cool down appropriately for your ability and environment. As a rule of thumb, shorter Time Trials require a longer warm up and cool down. Be sure to conduct Time Trials at a variety of distances. Constantly competing against yourself over the same distance can lead to frustration, especially as you approach higher levels of fitness and incremental gains become more and more challenging.
